About
I am an actor, bookkeeper, and yarn enthusiast based in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Littleton, CO. I am enthusiastic about work that is joyous, full, complex, and playful. As a mixed race Japanese/Jewish-American woman, I am interested in stories that complicate traditional notions of femininity and race. Lately, I'm obsessed with playing Shakespeare's young women, making them as messy, complex, and human as I am.
I have helped develop work at Dixon Place, Ma-Yi Theater Company, Target Margin Theater, and Corkscrew Theater Festival and performed at Milwaukee Rep, the American Shakespeare Center, and the Utah Shakespeare Festival. Favorite roles include: Hero in Much Ado About Nothing (MRT), Lady Anne in Richard III (USF), Marina in Pericles (USF), Miranda in The Tempest (ASC), Scheherazade (and many, many others) in a nine hour production called One Night (TMT), and myself in a devised play about ghosts called Our House is Haunted (Dixon Place). I received my BA in theater from Barnard College, where I spent most of my time doing obscure German plays and watching Firefly.
When not acting, I am a freelance bookkeeper and performing arts finance specialist (see here for more info). I enjoy crocheting, reading gothic horror novels, eating salmon teriyaki, and taking absurdly long walks with my partner around Brooklyn.
